Buzz Sound: Porcelain

Artist: Porcelain, the four-piece of vocalist and guitarist Steve Pike, guitarist Ryan Fitzgibbon, bassist Jordan Emmert, and drummer Eli Deitz

Location: Austin, TX

Buzz: There is no shortage of publicity-fueled, flat-dimensional, guitar-driven indie rock slog being postured all over our timelines more so for aesthetics than substance on the daily. Thank a benevolent god that we’ve a band like Porcelain to break through that current mold with something desiring more in its quake. Featuring members well-versed throughout other projects within the Austin scene, the quartet pile on a nuanced approach to heavy rock contortion that sees its roots turning inside post-hardcore, noise, and indie rock studies of the underground while never quite settling into one distinct corner of this scorched earth. That’s a fitting place for their sound to meander, as unease is rife throughout their sound. Vocalist and guitarist Steven Pike oft peaks through shadowed grooves of rhythm before he alongside guitarist Ryan Fitzgibbon, bassist Jordan Emmert, and drummer Eli Deitz collectively explode the view of the world. Creatively and conceptually, Porcelain are a reflection of societal spoils tempered and blistered throughout their upcoming eponymous debut LP. That it’s set to be released on the label run by Austin underground scene torchbearers, Portrayal of Guilt, only endorses their otherness in the rock world.

Sound: Peak …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Unwound, and Sonic Youth in a modern lens of a shattered daydream nation.

Recommended: “World I Know” and “Plastic” off their forthcoming self-titled debut LP, and last year’s single, “COA”

February / March Tour Dates:

Porcelain’s Porcelain will be released February 16th on Portrayal of Guilt Records.
