“Faith Electric” is a double entendre of sorts when you break it down. In the spirit of static pop squalor of bands like Th’ Faith Healers and Bowery Electric, it’s right there as a bastardization in the song’s title and that which Spiral XP sought out sonic inspo from. The latest listen from the Seattle rockers’ upcoming extended play, Blue Earth, also texturizes deeper meaning themes beyond just the superficial of it all. Co-vocalist and guitarist May Keyes can be heard coarsely whispering evangelized blinding faith devotions through its hypnotic groove and live wire in a manner intent to transfix, all the while the tranquilizing effects of Lena Farr-Morrissey’s softened appendage to them only further pulls you toward the well of its lush noise. Certainly, Spiral XP aren’t here to pull the wool over your eyes, but the way they manipulate static and pop is something to believe in…

Spiral XP’s Blue Earth will be released October 16th on Danger Collective Records / Den Tapes.
