From being distinguished as the very first release under the Hardlore Records banner to the honor of joining the lore of seminal hardcore label Revelation Records, the hardest punch line to come from Cosmic Joke is upon us. Whatever universal chaos may have been reaped from the Los Angel quintet’s arrival since their buzzworthy 2024 breakthrough has been a thing of good timing in this age of east coast kindreds HAYWIRE’s rise, as they’ll be releasing their sophomore follow-up, Suburban Decay, this November.

For those who prefer their strain of hardcore punk with a grit of Old Skool ’90s skate scene reverence (whose soundtrack they soon plan to homage in full Halloween costume regalia) as it rails down the crumbling staircase of today’s societal ills and their own eroding reflection, lead single “No Threat” comes at you with a dousing of pissed off self-loathing, plenty of melodic ollies, and a breakdown for good measure to help you deconstruct your insides to see it through. “Life happens / It’s easily taken away / And when it’s over I can probably say / I didn’t waste my time / Doing shit I didn’t want to do!,” shouts frontman Mac Miller. Take it as a threat to a glass half full point-of-view in spite of everything below…

Cosmic Joke’s Suburban Decay will be released November 14th on Revelation Records.
