“This song was inspired by someone close to me who survived abuse while in the Boy Scouts. This led me to learn of the close connection between the Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church in their efforts to protect themselves against accountability,” describes Lockslip vocalist Sara Gregory of the band’s latest preview off their sophomore LP, The Conversation. “People in power, so-called righteous people, perpetrating heinous acts against those meant to trust them. Surely if their afterlife is real, they can’t escape judgement.”

Where NAILS are ushering in judgment on Earth, the Los Angeles metalcore band are very much wishing eternal damnation unto those just in case those heavy blades don’t stick. “Who do you think you are / Wait for you to fall / Vengeance comes to call,” Gregory heralds over a scourge of feedback intensity and echoes of oblivion reckoning so loud that it causes every pillar of purported righteousness to crumble. “You’ll be seen / By your god / You’ll be seen / By us all.” Even if there’s nothing on the other side, at least Lockslip will have done their best in carrying out Judgement Day in the absence of.
