The Bugland universe of No Joy continues to expand its ecosystem with the upcoming release of Jasamine White-Gluz’s new Fire-Toolz co-produced extended play, Big Life, Big Leaf, with the elements aligning into a dazzling neo-shoegaze display in full technicolor vibrance with its second preview “Barking at the Sun”.

Whereas its titular introduction began with an end, its latest comes complete full circle much like our rotation around our closest star, particlizing that force through a multi-scene collage of sensory induction made from melted synths, a rapture of metallic riffs, and blistering beats informed by drives through endless cornfields on warm days, and watching the sun disappear in a solar eclipse before reemerging in the heavens.

Many artists have an ability to capture the light on the surface of their sound, but No Joy goes a further distance in capturing its entire energy. Here, she — alongside Angel Marcloid and producer Jorge Elbrecht — rupture right through the sky and into our bodies as if we’re standing right there in the open air watching day turn into night, and right back again in cosmic phenomena fashion.
