The new Fire-Toolz album brandishes guest spots from very alt experimental artists like Zola Jesus and harpist Nailah Hunter, but who the hell is Jennifer Holm? It turns out that its latest single, “And Where Is The Heart? I’ve Search My Entire Home”, has a double meaning to it when it comes to the context behind that question. As it turns out, Holm is who Angel Marcloid describes as a “session singer, church mommy and Nashville lady” who released a few solo albums during the 2010s and she scoured the entire web to find after hearing her vocals used in some stock audio behind a YouTube video. For the woo woo types out there in the universe, her discovery is fated when it comes to a listen that refracts a desire for cozy comfort in strange places through Fire-Toolz’s effervescent synth pad. Right where it should be, the barbing juxtaposition between Holm’s vocal purity against jarring hyperactivity and Marcloid’s scorched screams is what happens when we’re looking for something we can only feel once we find it.
