Portrayal of Guilt – “Total Black”

Portrayal of Guilt’s “Total Black” really does sound exactly like that. Total immolation, the latest and final preview from the Austin-based experimental metal and grindcore band’s new and wildly diverse sonic onslaught …Beginning of the End has ashes remains smoking off of it from the moment it begins. In comparison to the flashier, more digestible swerves in their avant takes on nü-metal, trip-hop, and industrial metal amalgamations set forth prior from the listen prior to this point, this listen is entirely god-violent and reminder of just how heavy the trio can get when harvesting the deepest, nihilist depths of their black metal hearts. “Smoldering corpses line the floor, my vision blurs through the reek / Total black, the void consumes my soul, vacant and hollow behind these burning eyes.” Only they can see into the darkness of nothing like that.

Portrayal of Guilt’s …Beginning of the End will be released April 24th on Run for Cover Records.
