Stand Still – “Mysticism”

“The movement is incessant / And I can’t stop shaking / My screams are mantras,” Stand Still vocalist Gerry Windus shouts over the bridge carrying “Mysticism” through. And with that, the Long Island melodic hardcore band go 2-0 with the latest half of their LP promo that sets the stage for their imminent debut album. It’s not without going to failure, though. Like it’s predecessor, “Steps Ascending”, doubts are placed center to the band’s ‘core, in this instance with Windus wrestling his inner voice over winding hooks and swerving around the breakdowns, tying together a theme in skepticism of faith, be it something greater or within our selves. “Don’t wanna look back on a / Half-assed tragedy / It’s mysticism.” Purely through their passion alone, Stand Still are defining the path on their own terms.

Stand Still’s LP Promo is available now on DAZE.
