Stand Still – “Steps Ascending”

Like Koyo, Stand Still are doing the Long Island melodic hardcore legacy justice as part of its new class of bands who’ve the ability to pop a big hook out of the pit, passionately at that. “Steps Ascending”, a new single and possible first taste from the five-piece’s forthcoming debut full-length, can very well be described as the passion of vocalist Gerry Windus at that, as it hears him confronting internal monologues surrounding Catholic guilt and existential inquiries head on. “What’s getting in the way / Of what I want to say?,” he wonders. In the thick of another Lenten season, his doubts are probably in more earnest good faith than believers’ blind calls to never question anything. His search is one that resonates with impact, too, as the band puts hammer to nail the resurrection of a sound that rises to the occasion whenever momentum is spirited.

Stand Still’s “Steps Ascending” single is available now on DAZE.
