Glitterer – “The Same Ordinary”

“‘Cause passion is arbitrary / Everything’s the same ordinary,” sings Ned Russin in the final moments of the third single from his band Glitterer’s fourth studio album, Rationale. The observation could be sonically construed as a double entendre at that. We’re very much at a saturation point with this whole grunge-gaze aesthetic, but leave it to the fully fleshed out human form version of Glitterer since inviting keyboardist Nicole Dao, guitarist Connor Morin, and drummer Jonas Farah properly into its folds to inject some critical life crisis through the surge and static, hooking you in with just enough plasticity that doesn’t stick around longer than need be. An irony that grates against the monotony, if you will…
