Mannequin Pussy – “I Don’t Know You”

Mannequin Pussy are most known as a force of fire in the way their aggressive energy blazes outward whenever the Philly punk band directs ire at deserved targets, but beneath the rage is a delicate that peaks out with as much conflagration burning inward. “I Don’t Know You”, the second single from their forthcoming fourth studio effort, I Got Heaven, needn’t go far beyond the surface to feed that flame, with Marisa Dabice’s sweet nothings of fantasy form swirling within the listen’s cindering glow. “I know 4,5,6,7 ways to get ahead / But I wouldn’t know how to get you into my bed / There are three little words / That I wish I had said / But I wouldn’t tell you,” she sings, her utmost vulnerability as kindle that keeps the embers going. This heart’s almost on fire with the thought of what could be, if only she could light the spark for real.
