Crowquill – “Cannula”

The resurgence of a certain straight of extremely heavy, turn-of-the-millennium metalcore has been one of the more prominent stories being told within the scene this past year, with upstart bands like like I Promised The World, a new day, Holder, and Lockslip all barreling through recently from all points across the U.S. map. Crowquill are the beast brethren from across the pond in Leeds, and following two promising EPs in their 2025 eponymous effort and this past spring’s Erase the File, the band has arrived at a joint venture between DAZE (of course) and Hardlore Records for the release of their debut full-length, Slept With Cannula.

For those just entering into their frenzy fray, the album’s pseudo-title track is a good point of entrance, though you will need to brace yourself — severely damaging decibel limits await, as a dramatic pile-on of massive riffs, blistered drums, and Botch-like calculations on the sig go head-to-head with vocalist Liam’s static-serrated screaming at maximum intensity. It all amounts to too much being injected into your figurative veins, as it should, because life is exactly that when you’re trying to survive its black holes.

Crowquill’s Slept With Cannula will be released November 20th on DAZE / Hardlore Records.
