“Call me on the phone / Memory, all alone / Take the harder line / Talk to me, guiding light.” This may seem like brevity if you’re judging that by the length of the lyrics heard throughout “I Found”, the final preview from A Country Western’s new album, Audition Tape, and yet, it’s all that’s needed for the Philly post-shoegaze indie rockers to explore the dark. They do just that with a path forged between Garrett Miades and Paris Parker’s vocals pulling you from one end of the listen into a mystery, searching through a continuum by way of perpetual repetition set in a sonic focus of programmed drums, a flickering glimmer of key notes, and guitar strums lilted and crushed against static. What they find on the other side are the comforts of another warm voice — the kind of sensation you really wish could last forever.
