“You get to a point where you are on your sixth LP for a particular project and it’s almost like the previous releases themselves become an influence. You know what the ‘band’ is about. You know where you’ve been, how you think it could be improved upon, but you also have to figure out where you wanna go that you haven’t been before,” said oso oso frontman Jade Lilitri upon introducing the world to the indie-emo rockers’ new album — and the first release for Mark Quinlan of Hop Along’s new label Feral Twin — an exchange of information.

Honestly, sixth albums is a long ass creative haul for any band these days, and that Lilitri and company have been nothing but consistent in delivering the goods is the best possible outcome you could hope for when your present form could easily duke it out for contention with your early classics. Be it intentional or not, lead single “know you know me better” is a bit tongue-in-cheek in that setup and score, as it hears the Long Island band refining their signature guitar-pop laments with that glow still basking ever so slightly brighter behind Lilitri’s pleas for better weather and deeper connection. Perhaps he was looking at himself in the mirror when he wrote this one. Probably not. Either way, this song knows oso oso’s strengths better than the rest.

oso oso’s an exchange of information will be released November 6th on Feral Twin.
