CEREMONY – “Death Destruction Mayhem”

CEREMONY has been shape-shifting between synth-punk spiritual worlds and their own parallel universes these last several years, but they’ve been building their way back to an intentionally abrasive punk corner lately upon physically celebrating one of their most feral live shows for the anniversary of Rohnert Park, entangling themselves with their roots in opening for SoCal scene legends Circle Jerks, and unleashing other hells on Earth beyond the ones that are destroying us. That latter dominion reemerges once again in the scenery surrounding the announcement of their seventh studio album, Tell Me Your Dream.

“If earth reflects heaven / Then heaven is not for me!,” defiantly proclaims Ross Farrar through toothsawing riffs in the early moments of its lead single, “Death Destruction Mayhem”. From there, he alongside guitarist and synthesist Anthony Anzaldo, guitarist Andy Nelson, bassist Justin Davis, and drummer Jake Casarotti rip their way into the bad energy of these times, pointing at everything from moon phases and shouting across the sea like no form of astrology or humanity effort can save this world from spinning off its hinge. “Bad world coat on / Journey through a long doom ride.” What chaos is reaped as the listen reaches its boiling point is merely CEREMONY in their most natural environment.

Fall Tour Dates:

CEREMONY’s Tell Me Your Dream will be released August 7th on Relapse Records.
