Converge – “Doom In Bloom”

Ahead of their second album of 2026, Converge are meeting the moment that is our modern hellscape with as much of their hardcore and metal bastionry that should sustain us as we try to get through what can only hope is the worst of it. As with Hum of Hurt’s lead single and title track, the turmoil is fed from within on its latest preview, “Doom In Bloom”. This one almost feels like you’re right there in the throes of it with no relent, as the Salem heavy music purveyors set the heavy emotional turbulence level to max while frontman Jacob Bannon does his most to dodge destructive perceptions of the world around him. “No one has the right to judge me / As I pick at open wounds,” he growls. “Some cuts are deeper than lifetimes / Roots that kill must be removed.” It’s sewing season, and Converge are hell bent on keeping their garden free of destructive forces.
