Marbled Eye – “Fade Away”

Is it too early to be taking submissions for song of the summer? Marbled Eye may not be the most obvious pick out there once those press darlings start coming through with theirs, but for now “Fade Away” — the latest single from the Bay Area DIY post-punk band’s forthcoming EP, Forever — is a great vibe starter for anyone who prefers the combo of sunshine and black shades when reaching for music that menaces intrusive morbid thoughts right when temperatures begin to rise.

The latter very much feeds the panicking mania driving through vocalist Chris Natividad’s train of thoughts. Zig-zagging razor riffs and stammering drums build the circular dread of the threat of F-A-D-E away to a boiling point. It really puts the listen’s accompanying visuals of compiled tour footage into a different light where every highlight might just be the last. Enjoy the moment while it lasts below…
