Kelly Lee Owens – “Sunshine”

Kelly Lee Owens returned in premier pop form with “Love You Got”, the first listen off her new album (and first for George Daniel of the 1975’s electronic Dirty Hit imprint, dh2,) Dreamstate. The Welsh producer has never explicitly directed her soundwaves into one shade of the experimental dance spectrum, and so it was a turn toward unexpected revelation to hear Owens pressing a more forward pulse onto her beat and song structures this time around. “Sunshine” is that as well, but from a different vantage point. Its club ecstasy is beaming through and through, though her voice is held to vapor trails behind a far-reaching stretch of dazzling rays. It’s nearly EDM, properly, breaking warmth throughout wherever it hits, again showcasing Owens ability to bend light masterfully in her favor.

Kelly Lee Owens’ Dreamstate will be released October 18th on dh2.
