Candy feat. MIRSY & mmph – “Love Like Snow”

Candy’s 2022 breakthrough, Heaven Is Here, sounded like acid being poured out of a vat all over your body, burning through flesh, muscle and bone as a means to self-medicate living in a broken world. That really hasn’t changed in the bi-coastal hardcore metal band’s formula leading into the release of their newest effort, It’s Inside You, with its introductory and opener “eXistenZ” pushing pressure even harder into that container. Its second single, “Love Like Snow”, is something else. In collaboration with Los Angeles artists MIRSY (also of Fleshwater) and experimental electronist mmph, Candy spills their way into industrial machines. There’s not so much a corrosive reaction to their intensity, but rather what could better be described as a discovered connection with feel good chemicals, transcending you from this earthly hellscape’s grotesque to surroundings purified. “Conditions never felt so real / Can it last forever?,” screams Zak Quiram, though his voice is not bound to fury. This is Candy getting their grips on a salve, and refusing to let go.
