Jlin – “Summon”

björk, Phillip Glass, and the Kronos Quartet — it’s safe to say there are a handful of heavy players in the experimental game joining Jlin on her imminent third studio album, Akoma. What’s even all the more terrifying in this thought is that “Summon”, its final single, is the Gary, Indiana multi-instrumentalist in her most demon mode of sonic creation. Of the three previews offered up so far, its latest is full scale drama, and perilous at that, with strings storming treacherous and the clanks of metal synthesizing their noise around the listen’s growing heartbeat of something beyond human. Whatever Jlin is inviting into this world with her art, it’s unlike anything other we’ve encountered…
