Infant Island – “Unrelenting”

For those who worship at the alter of the screamo gods this winter solstice, “Unrelenting” ushers light in against the darkest of our mortal experience. The latest preview from Infant Island’s forthcoming album, Obsidian Wreath, is, of course, a heavy onslaught of vocalist Daniel Kost shredding himself against the mammoth mountainside created by the Fredericksburg five-piece’s ability to press metallic and hardcore fury through the whelming energy of post-rock with limitless intensity. It’s needed, as the enemy of their light is a gargantuan force. “You feign / And recoil your hate towards a pool of suffering / Our burning embers pressed against our chests / Our burning embers / Raging against you.”
