Ava Mirzadegan – “Sleeping Through the Afternoon”

The telltale sign that it’s be over is when it gets more exhausting than effortless to keep the connection alive. Ava Mirzadegan is one very tired half of something ending on “Sleeping Through the Afternoon”, the latest preview from the Philadelphia-based songwriter’s debut album, Dark Dark Blue, and you can hear it her every word. “We’re sleeping through the afternoon / Staying up to fight / Sleeping through the afternoon / Trying to make it right.” While the calming arpeggio from her fingerpicking may invite a spell of dream-weaving, it’s perhaps the only the comfort behind her worn out daze. Rest may be necessary, but it’s also the only thing standing between Mirzadegan and the inevitable.

Ava Mirzadegan’s Dark Dark Blue will be released November 3rd on Team Love Records.

Short but very punchy. That opener?
