After becoming resigned within the foggy, listless weekend energy of “It’s Time”, Truth Cult’s “Blue Eternal” – the latest single from the Raleigh noise-pop rockers and first since signing with Philly indie label Double Double Whammy – is blistered in reverse. It’s creatively reactionary to the band solidifying themselves as the four-piece of guitarist and vocalist Travis Harrington, guitarist Kameron Vann, drummer Elise Jaffe, and bassist and vocalist Yvonne Chazal since releasing their 2018 debut LP, Not An Exit, with its energy being put up front and compressed in short order. The results are a fireworks display – electrical wires criss-crossing, pace super fueled, and its colors bleary and burning through Harrington’s reflection pool. “The past could disjoin from its place / At this point, would you keep the threads / Or weave them over again?” That’s one way to tear apart and reconstruct your own timeline…
