“Amaranth” turns the industrial noise complex into decadent theater. The latest single from the Brooklyn noise-rockers’ forthcoming debut album, Dogsbody, is described by the band’s frontman Cole Haden as “this album’s answer to the function of ‘Memory’ from Cats the Musical,” which comes to light mostly when the swaths electrical burn and foundation eviscerated take pause. Haden, alongside guitarist Jackson Wetmore, bassist Aaron Shapiro and drummer Ruben Radlauer, let the dust settle to see through the static, and it’s then we fully see the human behind the monster. “I remember thorns shredding my palms / I want to see the pedal stagger onto me,” his voice brittles into it, a full transformation from terror to grace.
Model/Actriz’ Dogsbody will be released February 24th on True Panther.
