“If this song makes you feel uncomfortable, you should ask yourself: Why?” reads the caption leading into the red-filtered music video for “Period Sex”, the final preview from M(h)aol’s debut album, Attachment Styles. In its caressed post-punk groove, the Dublin five-piece build their way toward a hot and heavy ecstasy with the palpitation only growing the closer these fantasies come to reality. “I / Want to / Make a mess!” commands Róisín Nic Ghearailt, as voices pant and moan around the writhing rhythm and trickle electricity down its spine. There’s no shame in hiding what pleases you when it feels this bloody good.
