Knifeplay – “Is it Snowing, Wherever you are?”

In the grand tradition of Yuletide melancholia and it being for many, the loneliest time of the year, Knifeplay offer a new indie playlist standard in a sigh fit for the season with “Is it Snowing, Wherever you are?”, the band’s latest contribution to their ongoing annual benefit project, For the Holidays. The Philly dreamworkers’ sound makes for a natural atmosphere for solstice solitude, with vocalist Tj Strohmer’s echoey apparition over an acoustic crackle through the distance of a last Christmas kindling warmer memories of winter coats and children sledding in the park. “I wasn’t what you needed in your life anymore / But is it snowing wherever you are?” It’s a wistful season’s greetings from the ghost of Christmas past who can’t give you up.

For the Holidays by Knifeplay
