The Tubs – “Dead Meat”

“This one’s about living in a rubbish filthy flat, wearing a horrible smelly beanie, and running out of steroid cream for the rash that’s spreading up your perineum. And about blaming someone else for all of that.“ says the Tubs vocalist and guitarist Owen “O” Williams on the band’s second single from their forthcoming eponymous debut full-length, due out in late January. In the spirit of the British Isles’ crustiest songwriters, the London-based Welsh four-piece led by O and George “GN” Nicholls – whose lineage includes being the best parts of departed punks Joanna Gruesome – insert curmudgeonly bristles into satisfying bright jangle-pop hook and chorus. “You were dead before I met you.” And yet, it sounds like a celebration for the arsehole.

The Tubs’ Dead Meat will be released January 27th on Trouble In Mind Records.
