Firewalker – ‘Demo 2022′

Firewalker are the kind of DIY hardcore band that you can barely find a shred of info on the Internet about what they’re up to. Past releases heard the Boston trio linking up with Pop Wig Records, the label co-ran by Trapped Under Ice and Angel Du$t’s Justice Tripp and Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, and you could say that Sophie Hendry’s shredded black metal vocals with furious ‘80s-indebted hardcore in two minutes or less have paved the way for other women in that image of the scene such as Scowl, Jivebomb, Punitive Damage, and Entry to come through as of recent. They’re back with Demo 2022, their first release since 2019′s The Roll Call EP, and hopefully an early preview of a follow-up to their excellent 2017 self-titled debut. It’s got two new tracks in different temperatures with “Hell Bent” and “Cold Day” plus a cover of “Boxed In” by NY hardcore greats Subzero, and they’re all fuming through a deeper groove amid the all-out war on a broken society they bring.

Firewalker’s Demo 2022 is available now.
