Following conversations about or with others, “Compact Flashes”, the latest preview off No Age’s forthcoming sixth studio effort, People Helping People, is a testament as to why the Los Angeles DIY scene noise-punks have consistently been one of the most interesting artists over the last 15 years. Born from nothing but a programmed drum beat before spawning erratic into a race-pace with the occasional cymbal clasp and awry electric string, the lyrical portrait is every bit avant and impressionistic of a moment to lose, yet captured in this sonic snapshot. It can’t be replicated from outside this lens.
