No Age have found a portal of escape here with “Andy Helping Andy”, the lead single and closing track from the Los Angeles DIY scene veterans’ forthcoming sixth studio album, People Helping People. In recent years, drummer Dean Spunt and guitarist Randy Randall have reembraced their noisier roots since signing to Drag City with 2018′s Snares Like a Haircut and 2020′s Goons Be Gone, but this listen is like an inverse of that by conceptualizing a peaceful rebellion within their sound, with “Andy” providing a sonic balm to listeners in its dreamy reprieve and quilted ambience.
