The world at large may not be ready for Water From Your Eyes, yet the rise of one of Brooklyn’s most uncanny experimental art pop acts from tiny independent labels like Exploding In Sound and Wharf Cat Records to mega indie Matador Records will without a doubt give the masses something to think about more carefully the next time they put their ear up to the stereo. “Barley”, the first single from their upcoming fourth studio full-length, Everyone’s Crushed, is the duo of Rachel Brown and Nate Amos’ closest attempt to meet them in the middle that they’ve done yet. Interloping the spirit of Kim Gordon in lyric, pop tropes, rock culture deconstructed, and their own fingerprints of sonic collages that rearrange the shape of rhythm, it’s as if it captures modern media, alternative subversions, and being advantageously capitalistic within the same atom, imploded.

Water From Your Eyes’ Everyone’s Crushed will be released May 26th on Matador Records.
