Color yourselves unsurprised at this point to hear that Friko have now gone three-for-three, as the young Chicago rockers and pillars of the Hallogallo scene head into their sophomore album, Something Worth Waiting For, with only momentum by their side. As made clear throughout their debut, the band is a thing of multitudes in their sound, yet they’ve always done whatever they lean into really well. Between the classic pop craftmanship separating them and “Seven Degrees” and the off-the-rails indie rock charge of “Choo Choo”, “Still Around” lands somewhere in between it all by packing in all punches of powered up pop into a punk spirit. “It only starts coming when you need it most,” Niko Kapetan sings over and over. They’ve got that desire to back it up, for sure.
Friko’s Something Worth Waiting For will be released April 24th on ATO Records.
