We’re all going to die, but if we can grasp that concept with the wide-eyed wonder in how to live the most of it between now and then, count yourself as doing it the right way, even if you’ve gone wrong. With “My Maker”, the latest highlight from Lindsey Jordan’s new album, Ricochet, words and instruments take flight in pondering the existential of mortality through a soft liftoff of Sundays-swirling dream-pop. With it, she sweeps the whole picture into sky. “Another year gone by / What if nothing matters? / Waitin’ ’round to die / To see what happens after,” Jordan sings. The view from above puts everything fleeting into perspective. If she comes crashing down from the sky, at least she got up there.
Directors: Elsie Richter & Lindsey Jordan
