Lighting Bolt. “CLOUD CORE”. Yeah, I guess you could say it’s all kind of literal right there in front of you in the band name and song title on the first preview from the legendary noisenik freaks’ forthcoming split with Boredoms drummer YoshimiO’s offshoot OOIOO, THE HORIZONS SPIRAL / THE HORIZON VIRAL. As long as the Providence experimental duo of human drum machine and vocalist Brian Chippendale and bassist Brian Gibson have been cranking out chaos in sound, however, they’ve yet to reach a limit to it. “CLOUD CORE” puts the void on notice, peeling out into the horizon before tearing through it in violent, percussive-pressurized fashion. If there’s a deep black hole somewhere out there slowly sucking us all in, the two haven’t reached it yet, and thank whatever for that.
