Irreversible Entanglements feat. Helado Negro – “Juntos Vencemos”

In contrast to the typical cosmic free jazz explosions ruminating from Irreversible Entanglements’ collective creation, there’s something more organically happening within “Juntos Vencemos”, the latest preview from their band’s forthcoming album, Future Present Past. The story goes that its members alongside acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and experimental folk songwriter Helado Negro gathered together at the center of the room inside the Rudy Van Gelder studio, and just began letting the energy guide their sound together. The three-minute listen doesn’t burst out loud, and instead syncs the heartbeats of all of its members in a centralized spiritual communion. “We got to keep moving / Freedom’s on our side,” its one and only lyric builds momentum, just as their own body finds unison. There’s a power to not only the voice of the people, but the sound they make when they bring their collective energy together.
