In listening to “My Name”, the latest preview from Knumears’ forthcoming debut album, Directions, the Los Angeles trio are reidentifying skramz’ loud fury into their own likeness. Every bit of that comes from the passion which the listen engulfed within that pushes the boundaries of this bloodline from the screamo scene into something beyond just boilerplate homage (though, it doesn’t hurt to having been co-signed by scene luminary Jeff Smith of Jerome’s Dream with its previous single, “Fade Away”.) Bones are collected, voices are recollected as memories, and mountains are seen in the back of another’s eyes near a noose and rusted sheers. That’s some head-and-the-heart-fucked hardcore romanticism right there, and Knumears won’t have you forgetting who wrote it.
Knumears’ Directions will be released April 3rd on Summer Shade / Run for Cover Records.
