Prism Shores – “I Didn’t Mean to Change My Mind”

People are allowed to change their minds in courtship rituals and relationships, but it doesn’t mean that it goes down easy for either side. The disappointment from one end and the guilt of letting someone down on the other are the hard price you pay for being honest. “I Didn’t Mean to Change My Mind”, the second single from Prism Shores’ upcoming third album, Softest Attack, wrestles with the mess you make when you do just that. The jangled noise-pop of the Montréal quartet at least does make it go down easy — a blown-out cherub song with mighty power-pop hooks, if it weren’t for the reluctant tone in vocalist and guitarist Jack MacKenzie’s apologetic admissions on repeat, you’d easily mistake this one for a make-up song. It does its most to leave things better than it found it, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

Prism Shores’ Softest Attack will be released April 10th on Meritorio Records.
