We’re realizing more and more as the shape of Glixen’s sound evolves that it’s one that’s deeply symbiotic with an explicit emotion. With the next-gen Phoenix shoegazers’ latest single, “Unwind”, the quartet continue to pursue those mysterious recesses of the human experience where the psyche meets a hollow-bodied collision in sound. Here, they zone in on what frontwoman Aislynn Ritchie describes as “that feeling of relief when someone comes back to you after they’ve left.” The head may be floating through an amorphous haze from that chemical reaction, yet the listen continues to etch higher res details into how they understand the co-dependent dichotomy between that strange, hypnotic push and heavy pull paralysis feeding through the subconscious which they began uncovering on last year’s standout EP,quiet pleasures. In the end, the whole body succumbs to this feeling of desires met.
