If this stage in the wintertime has you wishing that you were anywhere but here, maybe take a breath and hold that thought at bay until after you listen to Touch Girl Apple Blossom’s “The Springtime Reminds Me Of…” It’s never just a mere coincidence that the music of our current season is oft filled with darker textures shouldering heavier weight — emo, post-punk, and post-rock flourish during the shortest days — but the the lead single from the Austin jangle-punk band’s forthcoming debut album, Graceful, is sprite indie-pop and a sign of new life to come, naturally eliciting warmer feelings even when it peers back wistfully in ellipses. “The hard part is over / A patch of brand new clover / It’s lucky / What I need / To stop me from doing something I can’t take back,” guitarist and vocalist Olivia Garner sings. We’re not quite out of the cold woods yet, but the feeling is just enough to remind you that you’re alive.
