“Musically, it’s a love letter to singing, and a celebration of rock guitar,” said Cashier vocalist and guitarist Kylie Gaspard of “Part From Me”, the second single from the Lafayette art-punks’ debut EP, The Weight. That right there alone is good enough reason to throw your whole heart into this listen as far as these pages go, but it goes deeper than that in connecting the electrical fire rushing through it to the human desire to wire the self to someone else. “I wanna walk out / With no return,” Gaspard hurls without caution. “I can’t cast it out / Of my soul now.” There’s two passions at play here, and they’re both feeding from the same spirit on high.
