“The Sound It Made” doesn’t really need to concrete define itself beyond the notion that it’s an intriguing bout of unpredictable, noisy underground rock which exists beyond everything else around it. As the latest single from Robber Robber’s sophomore effort, Two Wheels Move the Soul, the listen spins out from dubbing the Burlington rockers a post-punk band or something more obtuse along the lines of art-rock. A timeline one year ago probably would have just attempted to mash into the shoegaze pigeonhole, but it’s not even that even if its chaotic breakbeats and gravitational shifts suggest it could have been born out of some alternative dimension of it.

Instead, it’s 100% revolution against everything where even aging to the sun and the rain catch strays. “I don’t wanna get stuck like this / Climb in if you want climb fast ’cause it won’t stop,” vocalist and guitarist Nina Cates advises you. Wherever Robber Robber are going with this, it’d be wise to heed her — and the sound’s — demands.
