In a present light, there’s personal history firmly in our rear view that may not make any sense at all. The wrong friends. The wrong partners. The wrong surrounding environment. All of it is there because it was meant to be left behind. Draag’s “NSPS”, the latest standout from the dreamy experimental rockers’ forthcoming EP, Miracle Drug, looks back on it all with a kinder grace for the self while understanding there were reasons for those seasons.

“In a past life, we don’t cross paths at all / Senseless acts protrude my mind it makes no sense at all,” peers back Adrian Cost over a cast spell of arpeggiated synths, a tendril spiderweb of guitars, and drums percolating up from the surface, as if returning to those places still steeped somewhere in the mind. “We can try to make it right, but never trust a soul / Someone we’ll be here later but time takes its toll.” On the end of it is a sense of gratitude to no longer be there.

Draag’s Miracle Drug will be released January 23rd on Smoking Room.
