Sweet Pill – “Glow”

“To me, a glow is a shape with no contour lines — a limitless being that sucks you in as you stare. I am in a daydream-like state, refusing to snap out of it,” Zayna Youssef contextualizes what’s behind the latest song title (and pseudo title track) off Sweet Pill’s sophomore album, Still There’s A Glow. Like that thought, the Philly emo rockers take it down a notch from where they started off on “No Control”. Here, the listen fixates their sound around a slower moving dissolve in energy and gladly being drawn into the vortex. “But I’m stuck living in this one / I don’t ever want to wake up.” It feels good to be able escape reality through it, but at the same time, you don’t want to get stuck there forever. Cue the existential dilemma…
