“Talk To Me” is sort of a full circle moment for Robyn’s storied career. Since her independent pop underdog comeback in the mid-2000s after breaking free from a major label system that only wanted to sculpt her image for her, she’s reunited with one of those early career sound sculptors here — now a hit megaproducer in his own right in Max Martin. For all of the talk of staying horny by chasing dopamine rushes, sensual euphoria, and breaking down new taboos through experimental electronic futurism leading into her new album, Sexistential, this is without a doubt one of the most cohesively designed singles from the Swedish dance-pop auteur’s repertoire in its verse-chorus structure and sparkling synth base pattern. It makes sense. With sexting having become so commonplace in today’s courtship rituals, only the innovator of the art of body talk could give it the jolt it needs with her staying power.
