From the sounds of “Go on, move your body”, Jana Horn’s really been going through it leading into the release of her forthcoming third and self-titled studio effort. While you can feel the weary-eyed heaviness continuing to pursue her on its latest preview “All in bet”, you can hear her beginning to work her way out of the rut. In spirit, the listen paces similarly in its slow-wandering existential thought processes through sluggish strums and lethargic pianos seemingly being pulled down by her own sinking rut of energy reserves, but in good company, things start moving forward. “With a friend I am not / On the edge, overlooking all I’ve got,” she sings. What began as an exercise in being stuck in her own head just needed some outside perspective to see that she was already where she needed to be all along.
