Sweet Pill – “No Control”

Days away from the death of 2025, and we’re out here running off the rails and steamrolling straight into 2026 with no guardrails to stop us from going over the edge. Thankfully, Sweet Pill are at the helm with that blinding chaos in our way on “No Control”. As the lead single from the band’s anticipated sophomore effort, Still There’s A Glow, they’re embracing the messiness that goes hand-in-hand with leading a life of unhealthy indulgence until it brings to the brink of self-destruction through a glorious emo rock calamity. Zayne Youssef refers to it as “sort of my rock bottom,” but you wouldn’t know it from how she and the rest of the Philly quintet are anthemically ascendent, with riffs zipping up to the sky and their tour de force vocalist meeting them at the climax. “Feel it bending in your hands,” she sings. “I’m malleable / No control.” And yet, with just enough might to reign it all in before completely going over the edge.
