One thing you need to know about Glixen is that they’ve got a habit of dropping singles in every season. Following a pretty big year that saw the Phoenix four-piece leaving us with their heaviest impression to date with their second EP, quiet pleasures, the Phoenix next gen shoegazers are wrapping up their year with a bow — a “Medicine Bow” to be precise — with what’s being touted as their first new music of the winter ahead of their December tour with kindred reverberators glare. The listen swells and blooms around the rock-heavy realm where hitting harder walls are met plush landings like its extended play predecessor, again with quiet pleasures producer Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, julie) there to emboss these textures into our view. “I need to get ahold of it / I know to burn it all / So let this be my last fantasy / In my fever dream,” Aislinn Richie swan dives straight into the calming pools of comfort while avoiding being pulled into a steeped turbulence of slow decay.
