HOME FRONT – “Eulogy”

Death will come for us all, and it’s all the more reason to celebrate those who’ve passed too soon as well as giving us the responsibility of living wholly in the present. HOME FRONT are facing that morbid balance within the life experience fearlessly leading into their new album, Watch It Die. On its latest preview, “Eulogy”, the Edmonton experiment punk duo again stare deep into the pitch black void just to shine an anthem into it. What’s illuminated is what awaits us so that we can make the most of this ride before it gets there. “Try and pass the time / Fake out the dark to find the light,” one line advises, before bursting into a revelatory spectacle of synth-charged post-punk served up with a melodic hardcore aggression. “It comes for me / It’ll come for you.” This is a great reminder to always say your goodbyes at every turn of the day.
