Angel Du$t’s “COLD 2 THE TOUCH” finds the Baltimore hardcore rock aggressors in a red hot condition. Ever since announcing their signing to Run for Cover Records for the release of their new album (which we now know will also be titled COLD 2 THE TOUCH,) Justice Tripp and his merry company of genre abolitionists — now featuring Nick Lewis and Jim Carroll of legendary ‘core bands American Nightmare, the Hope Conspiracy, and Suicide File — they’ve gotten back in touch with their primal instincts.
Full circle wouldn’t be the right word to describe what we’re hearing here, though. As always, Angel Du$t is in constant evolution, and while the shouts heave heavy, riffs sling like blades right through every limb, and drums stampede over a wake of bodies at the bottom of the pit, Tripp always has an uncanny ability in finding the eye of the firestorm to sooth your soul amidst the unholy chaotic. “Ribs touching, death is the solution,” he sings like some kind of prophet of salvation, because this beat is the thing that can give endless life.
