“We wanted to stitch together several disparate parts. Some parts of the song were spontaneous compositions, others were puzzles that needed solving,”
says Ira Glass of “fritz all over you”. Consider these pages a puzzle lover then, because the undefinable experimental, jazzy noise rock of the Chicago five-piece and Buzz Sound alum that’s been coming together since last year’s breakthrough EP, compound turbulence flexing for the heat, has been a welcome listening challenge in a music world of monotony.

A skim over the lyrics ooffers no concrete suggestion as to how it should sort together. There’s allusions to pleasant moms, beer pong captains, and balducci levitation scams casually place next to repeating lines carving jagged corners deep into impressionistic existentialism with Kim Gordon-esque Sonic Youth effect. What begins as wading through a post-hardcore whirlpools gets siphoned through a blender of before drifting into whispers and an almost-pleasant jazz sax reprieve from the great big nothing else before it. If a world of cosmic volatility is what you begin to see emerging right before you, you probably have the right picture here.
